Yamaha r3
Yamaha r3 and why smaller is better.
In a world where bigger and more is better I find myself gravitating to the opposite. Where smaller and less is better. In the last three years I have scaled down from a ducati scrambler 800 to a kawasaki z650 and now to a Yamaha r3. I grew tired of the heavy weight and awkward nature of the bigger bikes. For street riding I don't think you need anything more than 50 horsepower and a bike that weighs no more than 160kg. The Yamaha r3 gets close to that for me.
There are numerous advantages to having a smaller motorcycle. Cheaper to buy and maintain. Lighter on fuel and tyres. Easier to control and ride. You can ride it practically flat out and not get into too much trouble. It makes for a more relaxing experience overall. I like cruising back roads and getting lost in new places. Stopping frequently just to take in the scenery. Moto zen is my style.
